Deborah is now retired from her 31 years career as a physical therapist assistant and occupational therapist.
HOW IT ALL STARTED
Seeing the effects and devastation to the victims of Hurricane Katrina led her to volunteer in the animal rescue effort. She later passed the state requirements to become a Red Rover Respondent (previously EARS Emergency Animal Response) in needed times of disaster.
New Orleans is where she met and later adopted her beloved lab, Katie. Little did she know that this adventure would lead to a journey combining her education and the love of a dog.
Katie was fearful and reactive to strangers and other dogs. After discovering the sport of flyball, Deborah was committed to learning ways to help her pup become a more balanced pup while learning to have fun.
Deborah and her husband, Eli attended Dog Scouts of America in 2007. Together they formed the Queen City Road Runners Flyball Club in 2007 with a mission of promoting rescue, and education in the sport. Deborah completed University of Tennessee ‘s Intro to Canine Rehab in 2009 and has attended Clicker Expo training. (Karen Pryor) as well as numerous online courses in multiple sports.
Her dogs have successfully competed in flyball, agility, coursing/Fast Cat, barn hunt, and dock diving.
